Nutrition Therapy Designed for Athletes

Virtual Non-Diet Nutrition Care

According to the National Eating Disorder Association, athletes are 2-3x more likely to develop an eating disorder.

Nutritional deficiencies and disordered eating can result in athletes becoming less competitive in sports, more prone to injury, and risk permanent physical damage that, in some cases, can be life-threatening.

At Attune Nutrition, we provide compassionate nutrition therapy and understand the unique challenges athletes face.

We understand that you may have been prescribed weight loss in the past to manage your health concerns and it hasn’t worked for you. As non-diet dietitians, we do not promote weight loss diets - no matter your size.
Our individualized approach provides elements of nutrition rehabilitation for exercise and sports, body image healing, and injury prevention. As dietitians, we help our clients explore their relationship with food and exercise to create goals that align with their recovery values.

We're here to help you connect the dots

Our work involves building long-term therapeutic relationships together. With your permission, we will work with your sports medicine team and coaches as appropriate for your needs and care plan. We hope that each of our clients leaves feeling empowered and more connected with their bodies. Our approach is based in Body Trust®, Intuitive Eating, and Health at Every Size® practices because they are evidence-based and in alignment with our ethical standards of care.

We believe that the deepest forms of healing appear within trusted therapeutic relationships, and we strive to create space to build trust within ourselves.

Do you work with children/adolescents?

We work with teens ages 13 and up using a modified Family-Based Treatment (FBT) approach. This is the leading form of eating disorder care for adolescents and views the family as experts on the child and their participation is essential in our work together.

Will you give me a diet or meal plan to follow?

You probably know a lot about nutrition already! We believe that when we are given external instructions on how to eat, we lose the connection with ourselves and our bodies.

Our role as your non-diet dietitian is not to give you a new set of rules to follow, but guidance and tools around food so that you feel more empowered to make decisions that are right for your healing.

Eating is a very nuanced and complex behavior. Long-term and sustainable behavior changes require internal connection that is often disrupted by our current diet culture. We do not prescribe weight loss diets- we are here to help you build trust with your body.

How do I know if I’m ready for this kind of work?

You are probably ready if you feel you want to make a change in your relationship with food and your body; even though you don't know what that looks like yet.

We believe you are the expert on you and that you will decide what is right for your healing.
